Golden National Retriever

The breed originated in England and Scotland as endurable hunting companions able to fetch killed and wounded game on both land and water. The ancestors of the breed are several types of spaniels, setters, the Newfoundland and the Bloodhound. Today, these dogs are very popular and are used for different purposes. The keen sense of smell makes them good narcotic detectors and rescue dogs, which find people in avalanches and ruins. Their intelligence and desire to please are used for guiding the blind and servicing the disabled.
